1/6  National Bean Day commemorates the death of geneticist Gregor Mendel who experimented with breeding pea plants, which formed the basis of modern genetics!

1/7 On January 7th, 1789, America's First President was elected. Only white men who owned property could vote. George Washington won the election!

1/9 January 9th is Static Electricity day. It's a day to honor this unexpected, hair raising phenomenon.

1/15 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "Life's most important persistent & urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"

1/19 National Popcorn Day is January 19th! Popcorn became popular during WWII when sugar rations made candy hard to come by.

1/22 January 22nd is National Blondie Day. Could Blondies be the original brownies? Rumor has it that Blondies predate brownies because of widespread availability of chocolate and cocoa powder is a only recent phenomenon!

1/23 January 23rd is National Pie Day, a day to celebrate with PIE!!! Which is your favorite flavor?

1/28 Is National Kazoo Day. American's have been celebrating National Kazoo Day for 166 years! 

1/29 National Puzzle Day is celebrated on January 29th. Puzzles are a favorite pastime of millions of people.

1/31 On January 31st, 1919, Jackie Robinson was born! Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier when he became the first black athlete to play Major League baseball.
