February is Dental Health Month

Your child's first teeth (primary teeth) usually begin to erupt through the gums at about 6 months of age, although the timing varies among children. All of the 20 primary teeth should come in between the ages of 6 months and 3 years. Your child will lose his or her primary teeth between the ages of 6 and 11.

In an effort to support good dental care Kangaroo Kids has a dental specialist visit the school on an annual basis to promote good dental care for children. Parents are welcome to attend the sessions.  Dates will be listed in Kangaroo Kids Newsletters and posted on our Facebook page.  We are happy to help parents with oral health care with written consent upon your request.  Children enjoy our lessons in dental health and the visit from the dental health specialist, who not only teaches us about caring for our teeth but how to make healthy food choices and have good nutrition to keep our teeth strong!

Select a child friendly family dentist.  The ADA recommends parents take children to a dentist no later than their first birthday.
